Goosebumps with Darren Michael Boyd and Tara Holloway, August 10, Kemptville Street Piano
August 10, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT
FreeInstrumental Spooky Surf meets Sweet Banshee Singer-Songwriter. The results? Goosebumps!
Tara Holloway’s voice is a towering instrument: raw and soulfully weathered, yet capable of precise runs that skip up your spine and pitch-perfect delicacy. Darren Michael Boyd’s guitar-based music has been described as “Dick Dale meets Joe Satriani in a horror movie.” And yet, two sweeter people couldn’t be found! It’s a rockin’ double bill at the Street Piano, with Darren and band starting at 1pm and Tara at 2pm.
Kemptville, Ontario, Canada, is home base for Darren, a multi-award-winning composer and musician with “rocking charisma… heavier than a tank”. His solo career started as a form of therapy for the physical and psychological complications that followed a life-altering car accident, and he has released 6 albums and over 20 music videos since 2019.
Tara has spent time living in Lake Louise, Toronto, Vancouver and Los Angeles, writing songs wherever she goes. Working as a session musician in L.A., you can hear her distinct vocal stylings in music from the series Sons of Anarchy and Dallas. Now back in Ottawa, her “incredible” voice and delivery has been compared to “the confessional style of Lucinda Williams, the haunting wail of Stevie Nicks, the broken charm of Shelby Lynne.”
Catch them at the Street Piano as these two seasoned pros do what they do best – sharing their songs, their towering talent, and their love of music in a double bill that will give you the chills AND melt your heart.

What is a Street Piano? It’s a piano placed in a public area that encourages passersby to stop and play.
Why a Street Piano? Who is it for? Street Pianos draw pedestrians, turning any location into a concert venue / cultural hub. By giving residents an instrument to play together, this project encourages locals to share their knowledge, initiate their own ‘play’, and create relationships, setting a precedent for positive experiences in Kemptville’s public spaces and inviting foot traffic to downtown businesses. Learn more about street pianos at http://www.streetpianos.com/.
When and where are the concerts taking place? This year the concert series takes place rain or shine on Saturday afternoons at 1pm from June to the end of August on the North Grenville Public Library terrace. The library is wheelchair accessible, with air-conditioned bathrooms and free parking. Need special accommodations to enjoy the show? Contact Lisa Poushinsky at [email protected]. Dogs on leashes welcome!
The series is graciously funded by the Municipality of North Grenville and the Government of Canada. Check the Kemptville Street Piano Facebook page for regular updates on all things Street Piano, including concert details and access to the Street Piano calendar. https://www.facebook.com/KemptvilleStreetPiano
