A group chat amongst friends turned into Kemptville Brewing Co.

What started as a group of four friends sharing business ideas on a group chat has turned into a popular local business.

Jocelyn Major, founder and CEO, said a passion for craft beer, some hard work and years of planning turned into Kemptville Brewing Company.

“Five years ago now we decided to turn that one day into day one and started planning this thing and here we are today sharing that passion for beer and food with the community.”

Major said the group wanted a barn-style HQ and worked with a local builder to expand on a “man cave” feel and offer a welcoming space with more than 5,000 square feet on Townline Road.

They opened to “founding members” who purchased beer for life memberships.

A couple of months into operations, the business is thriving.

With all of the hard work and passion put into the business, Major said they were happy but not all that surprised to be nominated for a 2025 Ottawa Award, which recognizes businesses and professionals in the region.

“All the feedback that I have received from the community – just a reflection of all of their hard work. I am truly humbled just to be surrounded by such dedicated staff.”

Major said they worked towards a family feel at their business. They are employing more than 55 people, all of whom have contributed to the success.
