During this week’s Committee of the Whole meeting some changes were proposed to the Public Skating Helmet Policy.
Mark Guy, the Municipality of North Grenville’s Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture, said in a presentation to the Committee of the Whole that following feedback from the community they were making some amendments.
The policy now states that all participants in ice related activities 12-years-old or younger are required to wear a CSA approved helmet, this policy will be enforced by arena staff and signs are to be posted in easily visible parts of the arena. There are some exceptions to the rules including; figure skaters, coaches, trainers, people administering first aid and those wearing religious headwear the helmet will not fit over.
