Merrickville Teens honoured for community contributions

A pair of teens from Merrickville have been awarded Canada 150 medals for their contributions to the community.

Taylor and Peyton Horning received the mdeals for their impressive volunteering to their community. In 2011, they ran the “Share Your Hair” initiative where they collected 1000 pounds of hair to help cleanup after the BP oil spill.

In 2013, they collected more 30,000 aluminum cans for Habitat for Humanity to raise money for a build in Kempville.

The medals were commissioned by MP Gord Brown and MPP Steve Clark after they found out the government was not issuing medals to celebrate Canada 150.
