October is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The Assault Response & Care Centre (ARCC), the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Centre of Leeds and Grenville, want to use this month to help prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. To make this a reality the ARCC will be offering Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training free of charge to child care providers, teachers, parents, guardians and youth workers in Leeds and Grenville.
Sessions will be held on October 19th from 9:00am to noon and again from 1:00pm until 4:00pm, October 27th from 9:00am until noon and November 23rd from 9:00am until noon and again from 1:00pm until 4:00pm.
The ARCC is run through the Brockville General Hospital and offers free, confidential services to people that have been victims of sexual assault or domestic violence, regardless of age. The centre provides 24/7 specialized nursing care through BGH’s Emergency Department, counselling, peer support, support groups and public education initiatives.
