The Ontario Model Parliament program is now accepting applications.
High school students that are interested in politics or want an inside look at how legislation is passed are encouraged to apply for the program. Applications will be accepted until October 30th and the three day program is open to Ontario students in grades 10, 11 and 12.
Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark says it’s important for young people to be engaged in the political process and that the model parliament program is a great way to gain insight. During the conference students have an opportunity to meet key officials in the legislature, tour the building, learn the history and study the province’s legislative process.
A highlight of the event is when students take seats in the Legislative Assembly Chamber for a mock debate as the MPP of their home riding. In the past MPP Clark has served as the Speaker for the simulated debate.
The event runs from February 21st to 23rd at Queen’s Park and anyone interested in learning more, or applying can do so by clicking here.
