The month long Growing Women’s Health campaign is on at Shopper’s Drug Mart.
Each year local Shoppers Drug Marts choose a local cause that will raise awareness about a women’s health issue. The Kemptville location will be sending their proceeds over to the Kemptville District Hosptial’s Mammography program. Shoppers’ customers over the next month can raise money, and awareness, by purchasing paper cut outs of a leaf for $1, butterfly for $5, apple for $10 or bird for $50.
Jenny Read, Communications and Patient Relations Officer with KDH, says the funds will go through the hospital foundation and meet needs identified by the mammography staff. For example the foundation recently purchased robes for women having mammograms done, which is a vast improvement over hospital gowns. Read says the funds may also go to supporting education and awareness programs for breast screenings.
