Two people charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking

A Prescott woman is facing drug charges after a routine check by the OPP.

The OPP says that at around 1:00am while officers were doing a routine check of Mac Johnson Conservation area in Elizabethtown-Kitley Township they found a parked vehicle. Police found two people in the vehicle and, after an investigation, concluded both were breaching conditions stemming from past legal issues. Police say they also found a quantity of illegal drugs in the possession of the accused.

As a result of the investigation a 22-year-old female from Prescott and 29-year-old male from Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township have been arrested and charged with failing to comply with conditions of probation and three counts each of possession with the purpose of trafficking.

Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing today. The OPP say their investigation is ongoing.
