North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford says Prescott councillor Ruth Lockett’s impact was far-reaching.
Lockett passed away in hospital earlier this week after falling last month at the Alaine Chartrand Community Centre and being placed into a medically induced coma.
In a statement on Facebook, Peckford says she and council extend their sincere condolences to family, friends and colleagues of Lockett.
Peckford says they recognize that Ruth served as the Chair of the Board of Directors for Grenville Mutual Insurance since 2017 and was the first female chair in their 133 year history.
She adds that Lockett was widely appreciated as a dedicated leader who truly embodied her values, giving back to her community in countless ways.
Peckford says Lockett touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
