Rideau Valley Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Outlook statement for the area.
Warmer temps, aided by precipitation will initiate snowmelt, increase runoff, and contribute to rising water levels.
Significant flooding is not anticipated, but localized flooding in low-lying areas may occur and ice conditions may become unstable.
The conservation authority, which includes 18 municipalities within the watershed, is advising residents to exercise caution near bodies of water and be careful of slippery banks, shifting ice, and fast-moving water as they could pose safety hazards.
Environment Canada is forecasting a period of above-freezing temperatures and widespread rainfall that will impact the watershed.
Frozen ground conditions and densified snow may limit water absorption, leading to ponding in low-lying areas, ditches, and stormwater systems.
This Flood Outlook statement is in effect until March 9 or until another update has been issued.
