Three people, including a 37-year-old and a 25-year-old from Ottawa, face a long list of charges after police say 47 kilograms of suspected cocaine was seized.
In September, numerous police agencies including Brockville Police started Project Midfield in an effort to address drug trafficking activity in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario, with a nexus to the Greater Toronto Area.
On November 27, police say they executed four search warrants at homes and vehicles in Ottawa and Milford with items including one firearm, five magazines with ammunition, body armour and 47 kilograms of suspected cocaine seized.
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is more than $6 million and a combined total of 39 charges were laid against three suspects, the two from Ottawa and a 22-year-old from Milford.
OPP Acting Chief Superintendent Mike Stoddart, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, says “the quantity of cocaine seized in this investigation will have significant impact on local drug trafficking networks. The OPP will continue to work on joint forces initiatives with our partner agencies to remove illegal drugs from our communities. The OPP is grateful for the partnership and collaboration with Ottawa Police Service and Brockville Police Service, and we will continue to work together to preserve community safety.”
Two of the accused were remanded into custody when they were arrested, and one was released, with all three having future court dates scheduled.
