Police are reminding you that to always call them first when you are looking to dispose of weapons or ammunitions.
It comes after a resident brought an old weapon to the Grenville County OPP detachment in Kemptville on Tuesday evening.
Due to the age of the weapon, the detachment was partially evacuated for a time and members of the Canadian Armed Forces were called, came to the station and properly disposed of it.
If you are looking to get rid of any weapons or ammunition, police say call them first and they will ensure it is handled properly and safely.
