Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit starting beach testing this week

Our local health unit is starting weekly water sampling at public beaches in the region for another summer.

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit posts the weekly results on their social media and their website starting this Friday until the end of August.

Beaches are sampled once a week and monitored for E. Coli. which can contribute to ear, eye, nose and throat infections in swimmers.

When water samples exceed a high level, the beach is posted with a warning sign “unsafe for bathing.”

The beach remains posted until test results indicate that the water quality meets the bathing beach water standard.

You can go to the health unit’s website to learn more.
