Update: Two-vehicle collision on Highway 416 leaves driver with “life altering” injuries

UPDATE: 9:47 p.m. Wednesday

Ontario Provincial Police say a driver suffered life altering injuries in a collision on Highway 416 north of Kemptville.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, police say a crash happened involving a transport truck and a Ministry of Transportation blocker truck.

They say the impact resulted in both vehicles catching fire.

The driver of the transport truck was transported by air ambulance to an area hospital and is expected to have life altering injuries but is in stable condition.

The driver of the MTO vehicle was transported to the hospital by ambulance and is in stable condition.

The northbound lanes of the highway were closed at Roger Stevens Drive while the southbound lanes were closed at Bankfield Road for several hours.

Both fully reopened Thursday morning.

An investigation into the collision continues.

The northbound lanes of Highway 416 at Roger Stevens Drive have now reopened.

Ontario Provincial Police are providing more details on the collision that’s closed both lanes of Highway 416 north of Kemptville.

They tell the Moose FM Newsroom that the collision involved a transport truck colliding with a blocker truck.

The transport driver was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the northbound lane is expected to reopen shortly.

Highway 416 is closed in both directions north of Kemptville for a serious collision and vehicle fire.

The northbound lanes are closed at Roger Stevens Drive while the southbound lanes are closed at Bankfield Road.

They say at least one person has been airlifted to the hospital.
