It helps Kemptville become what it is with giving back instead of just taking.
That’s what Michelle McEvoy says is the message behind the Giving Garden, located at the Ferguson Forest Centre.
McEvoy says her husband Terry started the garden in 2007 with his idea that everything that grows in it can be given back to the community.
Terry passed away in 2009 but Michelle says volunteers have stepped forward to keep it going, including on Tuesday morning where several were on hand to help plant the crop for the season.
McEvoy says the garden is bringing people together.
“The volunteers have become friends in the last 16 years and it’s lovely, you can come and work on your own or you can come and work as a team.”
McEvoy adds that several area schools are also helping to support the garden through class activities.
