Crazy House Rescue Hosting Online Talent Show To Raise Funds

A local dog rescue is getting creative in an effort to raise funds for the animals in its shelter.

Crazy House Rescue, based out of Winchester, has organized a virtual talent contest inviting people of all ages to showcase their gifts, with some proceeds going toward the needs of the dogs they care for.

Co-Founder Amanda Williamson says since they cannot hold any in-person fundraisers, they wanted to create a fun way for people to help them out.

“We aren’t able to do anything in-person, so, an online contest can bring in lots of money for the dogs that need it because vetting is not cheap. This is something that would catch people’s eye and could garner a lot of interest.”

Entries can submit one video through Facebook messenger to Crazy House Rescue and an e-transfer donation of $15 can be sent here.

It will also cost $2 per vote and you can vote as many times as you like.

Williamson says any funds they raise go a long way in ensuring they can operate.

“When we bring in a dog, if they don’t have any vaccines, they aren’t spayed or neutered, they haven’t been checked for Lyme or heartworm – that’s about $1000 a dog,” she said. “We really desperately need funds.”

The contest accepts talent of all ages and contestants will be entered into age groups and the winners of each age division will win 50 percent of the proceeds.

Meanwhile, all remaining donations from voting and entry fees will go directly to the shelter.

Contestants can enter until February 28th.
