Sections Of Highway 401 Closed Following Collision Involving Pedestrian

A collision involving a pedestrian and a truck has closed down parts of Highway 401.

Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry OPP officers are currently investigating the collision, which took place along the highway at Mile Marker 742 in South Dundas.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., police say a tractor trailer was heading westbound on the highway, when he hit a pedestrian who was outside his car on the shoulder of the highway.

The pedestrian was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, while the driver of the truck was unharmed.

The OPP, along with Traffic Collision Investigators continues to investigate why the man was outside his vehicle. 

The highway has been closed to traffic with indicated detours heading westbound at mile marker 750, in Morrisburg.
