The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA) is waiving the fees at their conservation areas.
RVCA says all trails and boardwalks will be open and operated by them to the public for no cost until April sixth as public health officials encourage people to get out and enjoy a walk during stressful times.
Interpretive centres and other facilities like washrooms and outhouses will be closed to protect the health and safety of visitors and staff.
RVCA General Manager Sommer Casgrain-Robertson says that they hope their 11 conservation areas can provide some comfort by offering local residents a close-to-home outdoor escape by enjoying a walk in a beautiful natural setting.
“We have more than 40 kilometres of trails through mixed hardwood forests, meadows and wetlands. We hope families will come and explore our many hiking trails and scenic outlooks especially while schools are closed.”
