One Set Of Eyes For Life. Take Care Of Them.

It’s true. We’re only gifted the set of eyes with which we are born. With everything presented to us daily…meeting people, seeing landscapes, following movements of traffic, reading documents…we may take our sight for granted. Especially with today’s use of screens for everything from entertainment to education in schools, screen time almost seems constant.

At a young age, our eyes are vital to our development and learning. At any age, having your eyes checked is a good plan for future success. Your child should meet Dr. Carla Eamon.

EARLY DETECTION:

80% of all learning is visual*. If the information being presented to a child is not processed properly it could lead to frustration and acting out. But since reports show 25% of school age children have a vision problem** and 5% to 10% of preschool children have an undetected vision problem***, early detection can help improve their situation.

As it turns out, approximately 60% of children with literacy problems have an undiagnosed vision problem**** Even uncorrected amblyopia may harm school performance, ability to learn, and later, adult self-image. Furthermore, uncorrected amblyopia may be a risk factor for future total blindness*****

It’s time to bring your child’s learning into Focus.

Children under the age of 20 are eligible for a yearly OHIP eye exam.

WORLD SIGHT DAY

Dr. Carla Eamon supports World Sight Day to provide eye care and develop new clinics for under serviced people. Every year on World Sight Day, she donates proceeds from that day’s eye exams to Optometry Giving Sight to set up eye care centers in underserved communities.  This is the 18th year she has taken part in the program. It is also the largest global fundraising event to avoid blindness due to uncorrected eye problems. In order to mark this occasion, Dr. Eamon and staff will wear t-shirts and decorate the office to mark the occasion. World Sight Day is always the second Thursday of October.
