There may be a new helmet policy coming to North Grenville arenas.
At this week’s council meeting the mayor and councillors debated introducing a new helmet policy. The new rule would see anyone on the ice during public skating would be forced to wear a helmet, regardless of ability or age. The new policy would even go beyond that and make it so that the only people allowed on the ice without helmets would be coaches, trainers and figure skaters. Even that small group would only be allowed on the ice without a helmet during their scheduled times and not during public events.
The town would provide helmets on site for anyone that did not have access to their own.
