Giant Tiger Distribution Centre on schedule

The biggest project in Giant Tiger’s history is nearing completion in Johnstown.

On Saturday management from Giant Tiger, local politicians and dignitaries were joined by hundreds of residents at the formal unveiling of the newly constructed Giant Tiger Distribution Centre. The celebration started with speeches from Giant Tiger staff, Leeds-Grenville-1000 Islands and Rideau Lakes MP Gord Brown, Leeds-Grenville MPP Steve Clark, Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Mayor Pat Sayeau, and Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston MP Scott Reid, who is also the son of Giant Tiger founder Gordon Reid.

Reid said while his father was partially responsible for the company’s growth the great people they employee deserve a large chunk of the credit. Mayor Sayeau took time during his speech to warmly welcome any Giant Tiger employees who would be moving to the area. The speeches, which praised the hard work and dedication required to bring this state of the art facility to the region, were followed by the official ribbon cutting and tours of the warehouse. The event also featured face painting, a charity barbecue, live music and other family friendly activities.

There is still work to do, like readying and testing the systems, according to Giant Tiger management but they are on schedule to start moving product in early 2018. For Giant Tiger career opportunities click here.
