UCDSB hoping to bring awareness to history of mistreating First Nations people

The Upper Canada District School Board is doing their part to raise awareness about the country’s history of mistreating First Nations people.

On Friday students, teachers, faculty and staff are encouraged to wear an orange shirt, or other attire, to bring attention to the people who suffered in the Canada’s residential school system. The demonstration is also meant to show that there is still a need for reconciliation and healing. According to the UCDSB it also serves to keep the discussion about residential schools alive.

Orange Shirt Day will extend beyond the schools and into the UCDSB’s administrative offices.
