The Block Parent Program of Canada has announced they are in need of funding.
Officials with the program say they are looking for financial help from corporate or individual partners or they will no longer be able to run their community safety initiative. The program was started in 1968, which makes it the longest running child safety program in Canada. At the local level the program’s work is carried out by volunteers but according the program representatives funding for the national program is essential to their continued existence.
The program says all children still need help and when a lost child or senior sees the Block Parent window sign they know they’ve found a safe haven where they will receive help. According to representatives of the program all Block Parents are security screened and display the red and white Block Parent sign in the window when they are able to help.
